"The winemaker is a scientific artist conducting the symphony found in your glass."
Xinyue Zhang (Xin)
The third-generation winemaker from China's first winemaking family. Her experience worked at Château Margaux in Bordeaux, Inglenook and Calla Lily Estate in Napa Valley has developed her a critical thinking of the "Old World" and "New World", as well a combination of the two in her winemaking philosophy. Under the influence of her grandfather Yan Shengjie, the winemaker pioneer who made the first bottle of wine in China and appointed by Premier Zhou to launch China's largest wine enterprise - Great Wall Wine. Xinyue chose to study Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis with a Master's degree and put her passion to work by making premium wines in the beautiful Napa Valley. Her first vintage working as an individual winemaker was making Petite Sirah in Napa, and the wine was rated 90+ by Robert Parker.
Beside being a winemaker, she also describes herself as a cooking enthusiast, nature lover, traveling and art amateur, and a pursuer of the Napa Valley lifestyle.
